Scent and the deer senses

I can't tell you how many times I've been busted by a deer smelling me. I showered with scent free soap and shampoo,spray myself down with scent remover head to toe,and still those darn deer still sense my presence.I tell myself the wind must of shifted or I moved to much. You could soak your self in scent remover while wearing a pair of scent lok hunting clothing,and the deer will still smell you.I use to drive my girlfriend crazy with trying to be as scent free as possible.For me it became an obsession for me.But does work as good as it is to be believed. Well I can tell you this I never shot a deer until I started working on reducing my scent I'm not talking about just playing the wind,but going out of my Way to be as scent free as possible. Some of my friends can't believe how much scent prevention is always on my mind.Some think its a waste of time,but I know it helps and to me anything that helps me get a little edge on a whitetails nose is better than nothing.I may spend 200 dollars on scent elimination spray this hunting season.But I know I'll harvest a deer or two. maybe not a buck,but certainly a doe. So are you a scent remover believer or just playing the wind?

Accurate shooting, how far is to far

I've been shooting a bow since I was about 10 I'm 26 now and have been hunting since I was 12.But it has not been until the last 4 years that I've started to extend my maximum shooting range. I would of in the past never make a shot on live game past 30 yards.Now that I have been focusing on good shooting form and expanded my distance by about 30 yards. I now am confident that I can make a 60 yard shot if needed.But really how far is to far. Is it what you feel you can make if a certain shot presents it self. I'm not talking about shooting hail marry bombers of a shot that is not at all realistic.I've seen people make some crazy shots say 80 yards. To me though that's 20 yards too far. But it is realistic for some shooters. Is to far what you know in your head you can not make.Even more to far is when you shoot and you knew it was to far but the buck was so big you shot any way. Last year I passed up a big 10 point buck. He was not to far for me to make the shot. He was 45 yards away,but he had spotted me in the tree. He could not smell me so he was just standing there looking stopping his foot. I could of drew my bow and made a clean shot,but the buck was facing me the hole time until he bolted away.So how far is to far?Its what you think you are truly capable of and that only you know. Good practice is the only way to achieve those shooting goals .Shoot farther and farther each practice session.Make each shot count as if it was in a real hunting situation, certainly your first shot.So how far is to far is up to you and your confidant's. Just because you maybe able to shoot 60 yards on the range doesn't mean you should shoot 60 yards in the field.

Chuck Adams, Americas most successful bow hunter. So his Chuck Adams the most successful bow hunter?I would have to say he's the most popular bow hunter,very well known for his bow hunting skills.I wounder what makes him the most successful bow hunter in North America?what do you think about Chuck "Super Slam" Adams?I think he's the best bow hunter in the industry right now,and has been for a very long time.So is it the number of record book animals taken with one of his Hoyt bows?Maybe its the most pope&young animals taken with his Super Slam arrows?All I know for sure Chuck Adams is my favorite bow hunter.I would of never shot Rage broad heads if Chuck didn't say they were good.So tell me what you think of him,and why he's the most successful bow hunter in North America.I'm looking for honest opinions on this subject.My next blog is going to be about Tim Wells To me the best instinctive compound bow hunter ever.He makes a 70 to 80 yard shot on a couse whitetail,also some crazy running shots on coyoties and some whitetail running at all most full speed. Chuck Adams or Tim wells?
